Knitluxe Studio is a British design studio, creating sophisticated yet playful contemporary knitted clothing, accessories and gifts using ethically sourced and sustainable luxury yarns to help you have an ethical, colourful and long-lasting wardrobe.

Knitluxe Studio aims to challenge and transform the perception of knitted textiles while retaining craftsmanship, traditional techniques, mixed with modern contemporary knitwear designs. It is designed to make the wearer feel empowered and unique, maximising Merino wool's natural performance properties.

Commercial sampling on manual knitting machines

We can produce knitted samples as per the project specification. In this process, we also advise on stitch length, colour composition, material choice and other areas to make the process as easy and as suitable as possible.

Swatches, garments and accessories are to be produced on a standard domestic knitting machine (Silver Reed SK280 with ribber extension option) and/ or an industrial hand flat knitting machine (12gg Dubied).

Whether you’re completely new to knitting or looking to refresh your existing skills, the Dubied Industrial Knitting Machine Course provides a comprehensive introduction to knitting with a Dubied industrial hand-flat machine. No previous experience with knitwear or knitting machinery is required.

You’ll learn how knitting machines work and explore their capabilities, with plenty of hands-on time to practise, experiment, and create a variety of samples to develop your skills.

All equipment and yarns are provided, along with comprehensive technical notes and instructions to support your learning throughout the course. Our yarn collection includes various fibres such as cotton, wool, linen, polyester, polypropylene, nylon, elastane, yarn blends and more technical yarns such as monofilament, Conductive, Solvron, Grilon and silk & steel.

You will learn the following techniques:

  • Casting on and off

  • Stripes

  • Increasing & Decreasing (shaping)

  • Lace Holes and ladders

  • Joining

  • Tucking

We use Silver Reed (SK280) knitting machines on the course. All equipment and yarns will be provided, along with technical notes to take home with instructions for everything we've covered in the class.

Dubied Knit course with a FREE Industrial Machine Knitting book

This is a 5-day course teaching you how to use Dubied industrial hand flat knitting machines. This industrial knitting machine course runs from 12 pm to 4 pm, Monday to Friday. This 5-day course can be stretched over 2 weeks to suit your availability, upon discussion. You will also receive a copy of Szilvia’s book, Industrial Machine Knitting for free at the start of the course.

Whether you’re completely new to knitting or looking to refresh your existing skills, the Dubied Industrial Knitting Machine Course provides a comprehensive introduction to knitting with a Dubied industrial hand-flat machine. No previous experience with knitwear or knitting machinery is required.

You’ll learn how the machine works, explore its capabilities, and develop the skills needed to set up and operate it safely and confidently. The course offers intensive, hands-on instruction, with plenty of time to practise, experiment, and explore a range of different knitting techniques.

All equipment and yarns are provided, along with comprehensive technical notes and instructions to support your learning throughout the course. Our yarn collection includes various fibres such as cotton, wool, linen, polyester, polypropylene, nylon, elastane, yarn blends and more technical yarns such as monofilament, Conductive, Solvron, Grilon and silk & steel.

During the course, you’ll be introduced to a variety of industrial machine-knitting techniques using machines in different gauges. You’ll have the opportunity to work with 12gg, 10gg, and 7gg Dubied knitting machines, allowing you to explore how different gauges create fabrics with varying textures, scales, and thicknesses.

You will learn the following techniques:

  • Casting on and off (plain and rib cast on)

  • Plain single and double bed fabric

  • Stitch transfer

  • Racking

  • Pleats (pencil, knife, and Box pleats)

  • Ribbing

  • Ripple

  • Cardigan and Milano stitches

  • Holding Checks

  • Pockets

  • Circular knitting

  • Single and double bed tucking

  • Reversible circles

  • Dragon stitch

Please note that everyone learns at their own pace, so depending on your individual experience and learning style, you may not have the opportunity to cover every technique included in the course, rest assured you will learn the basics, which then you cwan apply onto using any industrial hand machine.

12gg Dubied Industrial Knitting Machine HIRE

One-day hire, 12 pm–5 pm, of a 12-gauge Dubied Industrial Knitting Machine, in the heart of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, HP11 9JZ.

Machine hire is for equipment use only and does not include tuition. If you would like tuition, please see our Classes or One-to-One Dubied Knit course.

DISCLAIMER

You must be confident, competent and able to work independently and safely when using the machine. Our industrial knitting machines are large and complex, with sharp needles and heavy weights. By making a booking, you acknowledge and accept the risk of injury associated with using the equipment.

For insurance purposes, the minimum age for using our knitting machines is 18 years old.

Bookings can be cancelled or rescheduled up to 7 days before your booking using the link provided in your Booking Confirmation email.

Studio Etiquette

Our studio is a shared workspace and shop, so we ask that conversation and phone use are kept to a minimum to avoid disturbing others. If you need to make or take a phone call, please do so outside the studio. No food or drink allowed in the studio. Cold drinks in a leak-proof bottle are fine to bring with you. There are also places within the building to heat up or buy food.
