Why choose wool

  • Two sheep standing in a field with a background of trees and a cloudy sky.

    100% natural

Wool is 100% natural, composed of a natural protein that is similar to human hair, wool grows on sheep which consume a simple blend of water, sunshine and grass.

    Totally renewable

Sheep produce a new fleece every year, making wool a completely renewable fibre without depleting finite natural sources.

  • A hand holding white cotton fibers over a glass bowl filled with cotton fibers.

    Naturally breathable

Merino wool is one of the most breathable fibres. Wool fibres can absorb large quantities of moisture vapour then move it away to evaporate into the air.

  • A drawer containing folded socks in pink, blue with white stripes, pink with white checks, and multicolored stripes.

    Odour resistant

In contrast to synthetics, Merino wool can absorb moisture vapour, leaving less perspiration on the skin, reducing odour- causing bacteria. Easily refreshed by airing, wool garments can be worn longer between washes due to wool's natural ability to shed dirt and bacteria.

Merino wool can even absorb the odour molecules from sweat, which are only released upon washing.

    High performance & innovative

Activewear brands and fashion designers choose from a range of exciting and innovative manufacturing techniques to create distinctive textures and finishes using Merino wool.

Wool fulfil complex product scenarios- apparel and fashion, outdoor and sportswear, "athleisure", flooring, interior textiles, automotive and aviation, architecture, manufacturing, medical used and protective apparel.

    Naturally safe

Naturally high in nitrogen and water content, wool's unique cell structure requires high levels of oxygen in order to burn and forms an insulating layer when heated that prevents the spread of flames. These qualities makes wool naturally flame retardant, without the need for chemical treatments. Wool does not melt, drip or stick to the skin when subject to extreme heat and produces less smoke and toxic fumes during combustion.

    Warm & cool

Wool is 100% natural, composed of a natural protein that is similar to human hair, wool grows on sheep which consume a simple blend of water, sunshine and grass.

    Naturally elastic

Natural elasticity helps Merino wool garments stretch with you, yet return to its original shape, making Merino wool clothing ideal to wear when exercising.

  • Person knitting with a blue and white checkered yarn, wearing a pink shirt, a watch, and a black bracelet, seated on a pink surface.

    Durable

Research shows that the average life of a wool garment is 2-10 years, compared to 2-3 years for garments made from other fibres.

  • Four large spools of yarn in pink, purple, cream, and navy blue, with two smaller spools in light pink and dark pink on a white background.

    Fire resistant

Wool's inherent chemical structures makes wool naturally flame resistant.

  • Young woman with wavy hair, wearing a beige sweater and a multicolored scarf, leaning on a stone railing in front of an ornate building with large windows and a fountain.

    UV resistant

Merino wool clothing provides good protection from the sun, compared with the protection from other fibres. As a natural fibre, evolved over millions of years to protect sheep against nature's elements, Merino wool absorbs UV radiation providing protection from the sun, which makes it a good choice for a wide range of outdoor activities.

  • Sewing supplies on a white surface, including pink and dark patterned fabric, a seam ripper, small scissors, a needle with pink thread, a metal ruler, and two large yarn balls.

    Re-usable & recyclable

Wool fibres are high quality and durable, capable or re-use and recycling, ultimately reducing landfill waste and disposal. Wool is routinely upcycled into woollen-spun knitwear, insulation and geotextiles- all of which contributes to a circular economy.

  • A person wearing a gray and white striped long-sleeve shirt holding a blue and white checkered fabric bag with a pink tie handle in front of a white brick wall.

    Soft on skin

Merino wool fibres are extremely fine, enabling them to bend far more than traditional, coarser wool fibres. This makes Merino feel soft and luxuriously gentle next to your skin.

    Stain resistant

Merino wool fibres have natural protective outer layer that helps prevent stains from being absorbed.

  • A hand holding three stacked knit caps in navy blue, light pink, and coral red with white stripes, against a blurred snowy background.

    Improves sleep and air quality

Research indicates that sleeping in wool provides a better night's sleep in relation to the total sleep time, sleep onset as well as sleep efficiency.

When used in interior textiles such as carpets and upholstery, wool absorbs and locks away pollutants such as volatile carbons from the air more rapidly than other fibres.

Wool care

Caring for wool is easy. Wool is naturally stain resistant, odour resistant and also crease resistant, so actually requires less washing. This means that caring for wool is both easy and gentle on the planet. Wash sparingly. I know I’ve said it before- unless it is indeed dirty, give your wool a good airing, and avoid washing it unnecessarily. It’s one of the great benefits of wool, along with others of course! But when it is time to wash wool clothes, you can either wash them in a washing machine, or hand wash with ease.
